Certified Peer Support Specialist (Mobile Crisis Interventionist I) - Oakland County, Part-time (16 hrs/week)

Job Description

The salary range for this position is $13.84 per hour to $15.71 per hour.

Promotes and participates in activities that enhance recovery and resiliency of people in crisis.

  • Partners with Crisis Interventionists to provide crisis support services in the community
  • Provide support and assist in building trust and rapport with people in crisis
  • Encourage individuals/families to be actively involved with planning and treatment
  • Develop understanding and management of wellness and triggers
  • Explore and link individual/families with natural and community supports
  • Provide crisis intervention, first aid and emergency procedures, as needed
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of all service activities according to Common Ground procedures
  • Work is performed in a variety community settings, including hospital emergency departments, county and local jails, schools, shelters, and community centers; also in typical office environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to apply trauma informed principles and values with knowledge, decisions, and treatment of all people served.
  • Expertise with all populations or engages supervisor and/or co-workers to utilize their expertise with a specific populations
  • Ability to relate to a diverse populations which includes a variety of age, sex, economic and educational background
  • Ability to work independently and apply critical thinking/decision making skills.
  • Able to work with a multi-disciplinary team successfully
  • Knowledge of current behavioral management and de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to deal with volatile situations in a safe, calm, and caring manner
  • Knowledge of and ability to use basic intervention skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to work positively with co-workers and consumers
  • Knowledge of mental health recovery
  • Basic computer skills

  • The work environment may subject staff to behavioral and medical problems that could be physically hazardous
  • Some local travel may be required
  • Local travel required and use of personal vehicle during work hours
  • Must be willing to transport persons served using personal or agency vehicles
  • Adheres to Common Ground policy on confidentiality.

  • High school diploma or GED
  • MI Certified Peer Support Specialist
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
