Job Description

Position: Pharmacy Intern

Department: Clinical Care Center

Reports to: Manager, Clinical Account Services

FLSA Status: Part-time Hourly


POSITION PURPOSE: Student(s) will gain first-hand experience of pharmacy benefits management and the managed care industry.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participating in research and development of coverage criteria
  • Contribute to the development and execution of cost-saving programs
  • Assist in the maintenance of clinical programs
  • Supporting pharmacists in quality improvement assessments
  • Aiding in formulary and drug use evaluations
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Actively enrolled in pharmacy school. Must be available to work afternoons and evenings.


Licenses/Certifications

  • A Kansas pharmacy intern license is required for continued employment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • First or second professional year students preferred.


EXPERIENCE:

Language Ability

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
Computer Skills
  • Word, Access, Excel, Database software, E-mail and Internet

  • Available to work afternoons and evenings.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Includes a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues. Some positions may include a call center environment, in which case there would be exposure to excessive noise.
