General Statement of Job
With the addition of Reiter Park, (Central Florida"s newest amphitheater complex and park) the City of Longwood Leisure Services seeks a dynamic intern to assist with event planning efforts. This is an outstanding opportunity for a college student interested in learning more about special events within a municipality. The internship offers exciting hands-on experience and the opportunity to gain new skills. Essential Functions

Solicit sponsors, create and coordinate the drafting/distribution of promotional materials, sell tickets, and cover the logistics of the event.

Update guest registration and related data entry.
Act as a liaison between the organization and vendors.
Generate social media content related to special events.
Complete additional tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Current enrolled student of an accredited college/university with a degree in recreation administration, leisure services, hospitality, program management, public administration, business administration or closely related field. Special Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities - Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space.
Ability to communicate in a professional manner.
Self-motivated, good organizational and interpersonal skills, detail-oriented.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Technical Requirements
Skill in the operation of standard office and data entry equipment, as well as proficiency and knowledge of social media platforms.
Working Conditions
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
Work requires reaching, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions.
Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound.
Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.

About Leisure Services
The Leisure Services Department provides the City of Longwood's residents and the surrounding populations of various ages with recreational activities, events, leagues, parks and camps that enhance the quality of living for everyone involved.


Conditions of Internship:
The internship is related to an educational purpose and there is no guarantee or expectation that the activity will result in employment with the City.
The education received by the Intern from the internship is for the express benefit of the Intern.
The Intern does not replace or displace any employee of the City.
The Intern will receive direct and close supervision by an appropriate supervisor.
The City does not derive an immediate advantage from the activities performed by the Intern.
The intern is not entitled to wages or any compensation or benefits for the time spent in the internship.
