Under the supervision of the Director, the Research Services Librarian, and the Head, Center Manuscript Processing Section, working closely with the Research Services and Collection Development Librarian and the Technical Services Archivist of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture, this position will provide support for research services, technical services, and collection development activities of the Bingham Center. Responsibilities Assists with collection development activities such as catalog searching and collections intake. Provides reference services for Center users, including those who visit in person and those inquiring remotely. In cooperation with staff in the Rubenstein Library's Research Services Department, provides general reference service in the RL reading room during a scheduled reference shift. Assists with library instruction, including meeting with instructors, selecting materials, teaching classes, and participating in instructional assessment. Assists with public programming and other outreach activities such as website development and maintenance, newsletter production, and exhibitions. Assists in administering the Center's travel grants program. Assists with collections intake by establishing initial physical and intellectual control of incoming manuscript materials through arranging and rehousing this material, creating records in Archivists' Toolkit, and other activities. Performs processing of archival and manuscript collections and assists with analyzing their organization, arrangement and preservation needs. Prepares descriptive tools for collections including finding aids and catalog records. Assists with the processing of print materials as needed. Assists librarians with special projects. Required: BA/BS and current enrollment in a Public History or MLS program accredited by the American Library Association, or equivalent.

This internship is a temporary, part-time position available for 19 hours per week for the academic year (9 months). Hours are flexible within a M-F, 8:30-5:00 work week, but assistants are expected to set and maintain a consistent schedule.
