Within Mental Health are several programs; the Mental Health Outpatient Clinic, Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Program, Substance Use Outpatient program, Mental Health Intensive Case Management, Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Center, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Outpatient Clinic, Homeless Programs, Compensated Work Therapy Programs, Primary Care/Mental Health Integration, and an Acute Inpatient locked unit. The Mental Health (MH) Nurse Educator assesses educational needs and competencies of Nursing Staff in all Mental Health areas and develops, schedules, coordinates, and conducts educational programs for new and present Nursing Personnel within the department. The MH Nurse Educator provides education and aids nursing staff in planning and developing educational programs to meet their own needs, as well as serving as a resource for complex nursing care standards. The Kansas City VA Mental Health nursing care is evidence based and adheres to the Recovery model of care. This RN works collaboratively with the Nurse Managers and MH Clinic Lead to meet the educational needs of nursing staff within Mental Health. As an evidence-based practice resource, this RN assists in establishing, writing, and implementing policy and procedures.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with evenings, weekends, and/or adjusted tours as needed to ensure quality care to Veterans.
