Job Description
In this position employees perform/assist lower classified employees in the installation and fabrication of wiring harnesses/cables and electronic circuit boards that are considered special projects used in aerospace assemblies. The following tasks, duties and responsibilities are on an as required basis and performed by employees at all sites. Obtain work through sources (lead, work order (W/O), engineering, production). Work independently on electronic assemblies/wiring, completing assigned work. Provide assistance to lower classified employees performing electrical/electronic work. Work with customers (engineering, production, using shops) in the development of electrical components. Troubleshoot circuit boards per engineering requirements and suggest solutions to form fit and function. Make deletions from layered printed circuit board, per W/O and drawing, by removing each circuit layer with the appropriate drill bit using a microscope. Determine holes to be drilled in circuit board (larger wires, drill/fill/redrill for smaller wires), per W/O and drawing. Use visual acuity in identifying electronic or electrical components (wires, diodes, capacitors) for use on assemblies (wire harnesses, circuit boards, cables), to ensure correct installation. Develop form boards with wiring schematic pre-positioned in place to fabricate wiring harnesses. Perform work applying protection (wire mesh, rubber coatings, plastic tubing) to wiring harnesses. Use hand/power tools (crimpers, strippers, wire cutters, drill motors) to assemble/install, or attach ends to wiring. Perform precision soldering on wiring/circuit boards and connections of electronic assemblies to ensure continuity. Use an ergonomic microscope to visually locate small electronic components (diodes, capacitors, resistors) on circuit boards. Operate a personal computer to access information (specifications, drawings) for wiring assemblies/components. Use basic math to calculate electronic/electrical specifications used in wiring schematics. Use test equipment (volt-ohm meter (M1)) to test continuity of wires/electronic components. Monitor completed jobs or in-process checks per W/O, drawing, Boeing specification, at appropriate steps in sequence. Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in an approved manner. Maintain certifications in compliance to Boeing regulations.
