EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree Preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10 years of law firm or in-house legal department experience negotiating and drafting a myriad of agreements ranging from routine to complex in nature.
  • Background in technology or health sciences/healthcare field strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and various database systems

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

As a member of the Office of Legal Affairs (OLA), provide legal input to the Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health community, including all associated campuses, departments and divisions, in connection with contracts, transactions, academic initiatives and corporate services, across a variety of legal practices areas. This position will interface extensively with business persons and faculty.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Independently reviews, revises, drafts and negotiates contracts and other legal documents in the following areas: technology (SaaS and licenses), general commercial (NDAs, consulting, equipment purchases and leases) academic (clinical placements and research)
  • Independently cultivates and manages client relationships with Jefferson stakeholders and business relationships with external parties.
  • Uses systems supported by OLA, manages inventories of designated contract types and OLA template documents.
  • Researches and interprets federal, state and local regulatory requirements and their impact on enterprise policies, practices and procedures to ensure enterprise compliance.
  • Provides consulting and advice relevant to business operations.
  • Participate and attend relevant committees on all campuses.
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
