The Pentair Water Filtration Operations Team is currently seeking two innovative and creatively driven students to aid in the expansion and optimization of our Brookfield Manufacturing plant. The ME intern will work closely with Manufacturing Engineers as well as Assembly Line workers, Machine Operators, and Facilities Maintenance staff to learn/improve all aspects of manufacturing from parts machining to finished product testing. This internship position will require knowledge from courses such as Statics, Dynamic Systems, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science/Selection, etc., but will also draw on a candidate's communication and critical problem solving skills. The Pentair Operations team promotes a highly team-oriented and fast paced work environment that is excited to help develop and work with the next generation of great Engineers!


  • Assist the ME team in day to day assembly line troubleshooting
  • Design and create solutions to optimize assembly tasks of the production staff (i.e. fixtures, testers, etc.)
  • Participate in production team 5 Why Problem Solving events
  • Aid in the development of Electronic Work Instructions as well as maintain physical work instruction database
  • Take part in Lean Process Optimization events such as 3P's, Kaizens, and general continuous improvement events
  • Continue developing Pentair factory 4.0 digital Machine Tool Management (MTM) as well as other digital shop floor integration


  • Pursuing a 4 year degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or other related engineering field.
  • Must have current Junior standing or higher


  • Basic Proficiency in print reading and GD&T
  • Basic Proficiency of SolidWorks, or a similar computer modeling software
  • Prior experience with Static and Dynamic systems
  • Basic understanding of Milling and Turning operations
  • Machine shop Safety Training
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Familiarity with metallurgy and metal forming processes

  • Basic proficiency with AutoCAD, or similar drafting software
  • Experience using an ERP system
  • Experience with controls systems and/or PLC programming


    Walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 50lbs, use of a computer, typing and ability to speak English.
