JOB SUMMARY:
The incumbent will serve as a Human Resources Assistant providing a variety of human resources (HR) management support services.

"As a HR Assistant you will: Assist HR specialists, supervisory officials, and action officers by performing technical and administrative work in support of classification, staffing and recruitment and placement programs including merit promotion and delegated examining functions. Establish, maintain, and/or utilizes automated HR systems to perform technical and administrative support functions. Provide a variety of general information to internal / external customers regarding program functions, processes, and procedures. Processes personnel actions." ]

REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Minimum Qualifications: APPLYING FOR GS-5
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience and/or education at or equivalent to the GS-4 level of difficulty and responsibility in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph. Specialized experience is experience at or equivalent to which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include providing information on personnel matters to staff or customers; and utilizing automated systems to prepare or create documents and/or correspondence; or Have successfully completed 4 (four) years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university; or Have a combination of specialized experience and education as described above to meet the 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. Specialized experience is experience at or equivalent to which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include working in a Human Resource office researching and providing HR information to management, staff or customers; utilizing automated systems to create HR documents; and assist HR Specialist with personnel actions. Specialized experience is experience at or equivalent to which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include providing assistance with recruitment and placement and/or classification functions; or experience independently processing a variety of personnel actions; and providing assistance in a Human Resource office to ensure accuracy and timeliness of personnel actions; or Have graduate level education in a field of study directly related to the work of this position; or Have a combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described above to meet 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. *Note: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
