Job Description:

This position will assist the PI, graduate students, and lab members with research on biochemistry, genetics, and cell biology in mammalian and yeast systems.

Job Details:

General Notes

This position will end effective one year from start date. Subsequent annual renewal of employment will be based upon performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of reagents and maintenance of laboratory stock solutions.

  • Other tasks as needed to contribute to the efficient and effective functioning of a research laboratory.

  • Participate in laboratory meetings, planning sessions, and data analysis as needed. Stay current on literature applicable to research areas.

  • Perform basic molecular biology techniques such as protein expression and purification with culture bacterial, yeast, and mammalian cells.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, genetics, or a related scientific field. Working knowledge and in-depth understanding of molecular biology techniques. Ability to communicate clearly and to maintain a laboratory notebook and present results both graphically and orally.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

At least one year of biology research experience at the undergraduate level preferred. Experience with PCR, molecular cloning, protein expression and purification, and quantitative biochemical assays. Ability to interpret results and analyses to ensure validity of conclusions.

Salary Range

$30,000 + depending on qualifications

Work Shift

M-F, Flexible between 8am and 6pm.
