Full time position available (80 hours biweekly) for Critical Care Transport Nurses to provide nursing care to patients during inter-facility and emergency transports in ambulance, helicopter or fixed wing aircraft. The Critical Care Transport Nurse acts as an ambassador of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH), as they are often the first member of the Jefferson healthcare delivery team with whom the patient and their family will have contact.
Provides care to critically ill and injured patients in accordance with JeffSTAT's treatment protocols and standards of care. Completes a patient care record, which details a patient assessment, treatment rendered during transport, and the patient's outcome following interventions. Provides continuous education to patients and their families with regards to the transport process, any interventions performed during transport, and the events that will transpire when the patient arrives at TJUH. Inspects medical equipment for proper functioning at the beginning of each shift; inspects the quantity of medical supplies at the beginning of each shift; completes ambulance inventory checklist; complete refrigerator temperature log; completes glucometer control testing.
Associates of Science in Nursing, current Pennsylvania RN licensure, PHRN or EMT-P, BLS, ALCS and PALS required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Three (3) years hospital Critical Care/ED experience required. Ground or air critical care transport experience preferred. CEN, CCRN or CFRN, BTLS or PHTLS preferred.
Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
