SRC / Ceramex 2019 Summer Internship:

ABSTRACT: :Springfield Remanufacturing Corporation: Ceramex Division, is seeking a candidate for a Summer internship of 2019. (May 21st - Aug 10th)
:
POSITION SUMMARY::
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position will require the Engineering Intern to assist the Engineering and Operations teams with documentation and hands-on manufacturing improvements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES::
  • Perform research and development work on lean automation techniques used in a remanufacturing facility.
  • Provide return on investment (ROI), on all components of the product being researched for remanufacturing viability and related costing issues.
  • Conduct a continuous search of new materials, processes, and procedures to enhance and improve the product line.
  • Research and advise on machine characteristics and where to implement these machines while using Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • Assist the manufacturing department in the development of processes, equipment, and tooling necessary to produce the product.
  • Participate in and support the principles of Open Book Management and recognize the responsibilities of being an owner of the company.
  • Required to follow safety standards. Required to wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
  • Work attendance must be exemplary.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES::
  • Interface with customers and vendors as needed.
  • Provide high degree of care and attention to products to prevent damage or loss.
  • Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization's goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT::
Work is performed mostly in a controlled atmosphere. Some exposure to harsh conditions for short periods of time is possible.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS::
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear. Lift and or move up to 20 pounds and 40 pounds occasionally.

MINIMUM SKILL/ KNOWLEDGE/ ABILITY/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
REQUIREMENTS::
  • Must be seeking an Engineering or equivalent Technical Degree.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing preferred
  • Knowledge of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) helpful.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Computer experience in Microsoft Office Applications as well as email and web-based applications required.

ADDITIONAL SKILL/ KNOWLEDGE/ ABILITY/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
PREFERRED::
  • Knowledge of data processing capabilities and procedures
  • CAD software skills, Solid Works or AutoCAD
  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • High level of energy and motivation.
  • Required to follow safety standards. Required to wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
