Job Description

General position overview: The Center for Biological Diversity's Take Extinction Off Your Plate campaign addresses the impact of meat and dairy consumption and production on wildlife and the planet through creative media, outreach, policy, research and corporate campaigns. The intern will work with our Senior Food Campaigner; this is a remote/telecommuting position.

This paid internship will assist with conducting a landscape analysis of meat reduction campaigns in the environmental movement. The internship will involve working closely with the food team as part of the Population and Sustainability Program to complete several key projects including an assessment of current beef reduction strategies, a compilation and literature review of data on beef production and consumption, and creating a working database for food and other Population and Sustainability research.

Additional related research, writing and other duties may be assigned as needed.

Main intern duties:

  • Data collection, analysis and summary.
  • Literature review and external research.
  • Database/platform organization of food-based research.
  • Campaign support for promotion of Earth-friendly menus.

Qualifications and skills desired:

  • Undergrad or graduate student with interest in sustainable food.
  • Experience working with a team and independently.
  • Interested and experience in environmental advocacy preferred.
  • Creative and analytical.
  • Ability to understand and integrate feedback.
