PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Assist the Director in recruiting prospective students, and developing relationships with high school and college art teachers and counselors, and community-based organizations. Significant travel and independent work are critical functions of this position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prospect and recruit prospective undergraduate, transfer, and graduate students in assigned locations.
  • Schedule and conduct recruiting and informational programs at high schools, community colleges, college fairs, National Portfolio Days and various other recruiting events.
  • Establish rapport with high school and college administrators, art teachers, media teachers, counselors, prospective students and their parents, by providing information about the College, college curriculum and its enrollment services procedures.
  • Interview, review portfolios, and assist with touring prospective students on campus.
  • Assist with updating database with current information.
  • Process follow-up correspondence to prospective students, art teachers, media teachers and guidance counselors after high school visits, portfolio days, on-campus interviews, college fairs, etc.
  • Track and report on results by adhering to an established system which includes the use of database tools to efficiently track each interaction. Audit collected data and conduct statistical research to target population for recruitment and judge recruitment effectiveness. Produce regular reports regarding activities and future plans.
  • Participate and assist with on-campus recruiting events.
  • Other responsibilities as determined by the Director, Admissions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: BA or equivalent, required; BFA in visual arts, preferred. Must have completed studio art coursework.
Experience: Previous admissions, public relations, or customer service or equivalent experience required.
Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills required. Must be comfortable speaking in public. Computer experience required. CRM database experience preferred. Overall proficient skill-level in Microsoft Office, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and basic computer concepts. Willingness and ability to learn new software.
Desirable: The ideal candidate would be an MCAD graduate and preferably have already represented the College in some capacity (for example, as a Student Ambassador, Tour Guide, RA, Orientation Leader, Student Union member). As a role model for prospective students, the candidate should have a strong and positive MCAD experience as both a student and campus community member.
Other: This position has been identified as security sensitive, and as such will require a background check. Valid MN driver's license and satisfactory background DMV check required. Must have reliable access to automobile transportation. Must be available to work weekends. Extensive overnight travel is required and demonstrated ability to travel both locally and nationally that may frequently require being away from home for extended periods. Working and driving for extended periods of time and ability to load, unload, transport and assemble display materials. Must be able to lift 25 pounds. At the discretion of the college, various background checks may be done during the course of employment.
