Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Group Exercise Manager, the Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for instructing their assigned exercise classes, policy enforcement and delivering excellent customer service at all times.

Essential Job Functions:
Greets members and guests with a smile and delivers world-class service at all times.
Arrives ten minutes ahead of time to prepare classroom, music and equipment.
Screens class for new members, and instructs newcomers on class content. Refers members with possible limitations (including injuries and/or medication being taken) to a fitness staff member, manager, or physical therapist for further direction.
Follows scheduled class format according to LiveHealthy class descriptions within the designated class time.
Where applicable, agrees to purchase and learn quarterly/bi-monthly pre-designed formats offered on the LiveHealthy group exercise schedule and be prepared to deliver by program launch date.
Participates in a minimum of two group exercise-focused quarterly events each year.
Uses proper terminology.
Provides class with professional presentation and instruction.
Receives approval from Group Exercise Manager for choreography, music selection, movement and breathing techniques, and utilization of equipment.
Displays professional behavior at all times.
Instructors are not doctors and will not diagnose or prescribe exercise. If a member asks specific questions regarding exercise, the instructor will refer the member to the professional fitness staff.
Operates A/V equipment and music with care.

Supports LiveHealthy's promotional strategy by assisting in the generation of maximum participation in all fitness activities and programs.
Serves as a healthy Role Model to all center staff and members.
Follows system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure.
Attends and positively contributes in all department meetings and scheduled employee meetings.
Maintains responsibility for on-going positive communications with peers, superiors and employees and adheres to all Mentor Wellness Campus employee policies.
Remains knowledgeable in all facility rules, regulations, and policies.
Remains knowledgeable in current information on all center programs, services, and activities.

Completes accident/injury report when appropriate, and submits to the LiveHealthy Director, Group Exercise Manager, and Manager on Duty.
Returns all exercise equipment to proper storage and makes sure all exercise equipment and studio floor/pool deck is clean for the next class.
Follows system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.

Education and Experience:
High school graduate or the equivalent preferred. Group exercise format-specific certification preferred.
Format-specific certification preferred including but not limited to: indoor cycle, aquatics, RYT200, bootcamp, interval training, Zumba®, Zumba® Toning, Aqua Zumba®, group strength/barbell, Tabata Bootcamp™, kettlebell, kickboxing, Arthritis Foundation, Pilates (Stott or Balanced Body preferred). General group exercise certification from an NCAA-accredited organization preferred, including but not limited to: American Council on Exercise (ACE), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). CPR certification preferred.
Minimum of one year's experience teaching group exercise classes in a fitness facility.
