PPD is currently recruiting for our 2019 Internship Program at our Austin, TX Clinical Research Unit. We are seeking students that have a Junior or Senior status. The Program requires part-time Summer and Fall hours. These hours will be mutually determined by you and the supervisor upon hire. Interns will learn about a contract research laboratory and their role within the pharmaceutical research and development industry. They will also be assigned specific project activities under the direction of their supervisor. The student will benefit by applying what they have learned in the classroom to practical situations and by having various opportunities to develop professionally.

Project Assistant provides project-specific clerical support to the Clinic Project Managers during the course of a clinical research study. They do so by performing the below duties:

Maintain critical document files and other study-related information and facilitate the submission of documents to the IRB's during study initiation activities.
Compose and proofread sponsor correspondence and other study-related documents for Project Manager and IRB submittal.
Submit documents to IRB as needed (includes initial submission and any updates to study).
Photocopy and distribute study related documents as needed.
Audit study files to ensure all project documents are accounted for and no incorrectly filed documents exist in the file. File critical documents in study files in a timely manner.
Facilitate departmental communication/interaction with IRB.
Provide administrative support for Project Manager which includes but is not limited to printing of emails, answering phones, creating expense reports, and any other study-related support as needed.

Pay: $14.00/hr
Degree concentrations desired: business, project management

Please note: Candidates requiring long-term sponsorship will not be considered. Candidates that are not within a reasonable commutable distance of the facility will not be considered.

Responsibilities include:
Assisting team members with assigned tasks in specific project areas, as well as completing tasks in "Student's Measurable Learning Objectives"
Training within department (attend departmental specific training)
Attending meetings and other learning opportunities
Other tasks under the direction of the PPD supervisor

Education and Experience:
Must be enrolled in an applicable Undergraduate program
Typically enrolled as a rising Junior or rising Senior

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail, with proven ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
Good English and grammar skills
Good computer skills, proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in Regulated Laboratory environment

Physical Demands:
Frequently stationary for 4-6 hours per day.
Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
Occasional mobility required.
Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.
Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
May interact with others, relating and gathering sensitive information. Interaction includes diverse groups.
Works with guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions from management. May require periods of intense concentration.
Performs a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence. Ability to perform under stress. Ability to multi-task.
Regular and consistent attendance.
