Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Works on entry-level accounting tasks under moderate supervision. Requires excellent communication skills and knowledge of finance and accounting operations. Primarily responsible for assisting the project accounting team with preliminary completeness review of project charters, preparing information requests/compiling documentation, preparing schedules, invoice coding, and other ad-hoc requests.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY: Basic knowledge of accounting principles and business processes. Good time management, communication, decision-making, presentation, and organizational skills. Works well in a team environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Outlook. Experience with Oracle or other accounting software is a plus.

JOB COMPLEXITY: Works on entry-level accounting tasks of limited scope. Under the direct guidance of a supervisor, follows Rackspace accounting policies and GAAP guidance. Ability to carry out assignments effectively, accurately, and efficiently. May also be asked to provide support for ad-hoc tasks as needed.

SUPERVISION: Operates under close supervision, with a review of completed assignments.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Position targeted towards college students pursuing a Master's degree in finance or accounting. Experience with concepts of audit, accounting, and financial reporting is preferred. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: General office environment. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment. May require long periods sitting and viewing a computer monitor. Moderate levels of stress may occur at times. No special physical demands required.
