    Duties

    Summary

    The Technical Career Field (TCF) is a national workforce development program within VHA that was designed to replenish technical staff in critically identified positions. Employee will be assigned to the Compliance & Business Integrity (CBI) Program as an intern in the VA Technical Career Field (TCF) Master's Program. Employee contributes to the fulfillment of the elements of an effective compliance program.

    Responsibilities

    The TCF career fields represent those technical fields where VA-specific knowledge and experience is desirable for success in the field. Individuals selected follow a formal training plan for two years during which they are trained, coached, and supervised by a preceptor. Preceptors are selected annually, through an extensive application process, for their technical expertise, their commitment to training and the suitability of their facility as a training location. *Selectees will be required to sign Mobility, Training, and Continued Service Agreements.

    Positions are located at the Veterans Administration Health Care Systems (VAHCS) in the following locations: Los Angeles, CA; Orlando, FL; Charleston, SC; and Fayetteville, AK.

    NOTE: T he salary listed in the announcement represents the base salary range for the GS9 level. Actual locality pay will be determined at the time of selection based on the duty location of the position.

    This is a developmental position leading to a GS-11, performing assignments intended to broaden skills and provide practical experience leading to progressively more complex assignments performed under progressively less supervision. You will ultimately acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-11. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.

    Duties include:

    • Assists in planning, developing, and implementing CBI initiatives; reviews and evaluates compliance issues and concerns with elements involving but not limited to, preventing illegal and/or unethical conduct, responding to alleged violations of law, rule or regulation, and reporting violations to appropriate channels for investigation and resolution.
    • Plans program objectives; develops risk management solutions and associated mitigation plans, and creates training and education plans.
    • Identifies, plans, assesses, responds to, and monitors areas of high risk and coordinates efforts to improve performance.
    • Develops expertise to serve as an advisor on compliance regulations, references, and program initiation and implementation.
    • Reviews documents, patient records, and other information relevant to compliance activities.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
