position summary:

Do you love finding and telling a great story? Creating a hook that connects with an audience? How about teaching strangers everything you know? Then Spawn Ideas is your place to shine. Our growing content marketing department is seeking an intern who's ready to dig in, make content, establish processes and get results.

If you're eager to get your hands on every aspect of content creation - planning, ideating, writing, editing, even pitching in on design and photo selections - then this is your dream gig. You'll be assigned real projects and have the opportunity to determine the best way to get things done. This position is based in our Anchorage, AK office. Relocation is not provided.

successful candidates:

Our content interns are expected to perform at the same level as (top-notch) entry-level employees. We'll look for a candidate with solid writing and organizational skills, an open mind about edits, enthusiasm about content in all its many forms, and a strategic point of view. We'll help you get started, and work together to make sure you shine.

On any given day, you could be:

  • Creating strategies and process that will help us get new fans & followers
  • Pitching in with our design team to make content look amazing
  • Work with teams in almost every department to maintain our content calendar, and look for ways to make our process better than ever
  • Pitching in whenever needed - whether that means helping organize our server or helping our social committee plan the next Spawn event

tasks to be performed:

  • Research best practices for newsletter headlines; write first drafts on newsletter headlines
  • Interview Spawn staffers for their blog profiles; write first drafts of their profiles
  • Research social media scheduling/monitoring tools
  • Work on a hashtag strategy/list of hashtags spawn should use/follow
  • Establish the process for each of the post types on the calendar/route blog posts through the process and keep the status sheet updated for each type
  • Help create a plan for "new business focused" post types in social media
  • Work with Spawn team members to create a library of Instagram posts for evergreen content
  • Write tweets for the existing blog posts

knowledge and skills:

  • Macintosh operating system and Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated effective writing and speaking skills
  • Web and social media understanding and familiarity a plus
  • MailChimp and Social Media scheduling tool experience preferred, but not required

education and experience:

  • May be recently graduated or pursuing a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field.


physical requirements

  • Seeing: Able to read reports and use computer
  • Hearing: Able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, vendors, and clients, in person and on phone
  • Other: Able to lift at least 10 pounds and mobile enough to change paper in computer printers, must have driver's license and access to personal transportation
