Learning through an Expanded Arts Program (LEAP) is a 39-year-old non-profit educational organization
that works in over 150 New York City public schools each year serving over 20,000 students in grades Pre-K through 12
annually. LEAP engages a roster of over 150 teaching artists to teach hands-on, arts-based approaches to the academic
curricula and offers a wide range of programs that incorporate visual arts, music, dance, moving image, and theater.
A group leader should be a dynamic youth worker committed to working with the program team to deliver high quality
academically-aligned arts, performance arts, sports, and/or STEM instruction to elementary, middle or high school youth
from the framework of positive youth development and social emotional literacy. This person assists Teaching Artists
and Activity Specialists in all areas of programming from helping to maintain the safety and security of the children
during program time, assisting in facilitating groups, following lesson plans, to following program administrative
procedures and policies. Group Leaders act as support staff in the afterschool environment, helping to ensure a safe,
positive and organized environment for youth participants.
