Responsible to the Nurse Manager and nursing staff of the Emergency Medicine department for the performance of a variety of clerical duties in accordance with procedures and guidelines within the Department of Nursing.
Education: High school graduate.
Experience: Secretarial experience in a health related environment preferred
Skills: Ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to deal with patients, visitors, and employees in a professional manner. Basic knowledge and functional usage of desktop computers within windows environment.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT
Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position. Ability to work with others and to accept supervision and direction. Position requires ability to frequently push/pull/lift light objects less than 20 lbs., perform moderately difficult manipulative and hand-eye coordination skills; walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods; see objects closely and hear normal sounds with some background noises. Position requires ability to concentrate on moderate detail with interruption and attend to tasks for more than 60 minutes at a time. Individual must be able to understand and relate to specific ideas generally several at a time and remember multiple tasks given during course of day.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Time spent sitting, standing, and walking. Employee may frequently be exposed to electro-magnetic radiation as in CRT's (VDT's). Employee may frequently be exposed to blood, body tissues, fluids and dust.
