The incumbent responsibilities include comprehensive high-level research, analysis, and reconciliation of Housing, Dining, Hospitality departmental records to monthly operating ledgers. Interpret financial data and determine appropriate classification of income or expense. Independently determine monthly expense and income accruals for assigned HDH accounts. Determine the appropriate methods to correct discrepancies including initiation of financial journals, ENPETS, encumbrance adjustments, and transfer of funds. Independently prepare assigned monthly Financial Operating Reports for Senior Managers & Associate Directors. Provide feedback whenever needed. Back up for reconciling of over $6 million in our credit card accounts. Liaison with General Accounting, Information Technology, and Office Managers concerning credit card activities.
Housing Dining Hospitality (HDH) is a self-funded, large and complex campus department consisting of 7 divisions, with approximately 700 career employees, 1000 to 1200 student employees and an annual operating budget of greater than $189 million. HDH provides housing for approximately 15,000 undergraduates, grad students, faculty, staff and their families in over 400 buildings covering approximately 6 million sq. ft. HDH is in the midst of implementing an aggressive building plan which will add 5000 new beds and almost double our square footage by 2021. Currently, HDH houses 38% of UCSD's enrolled students with a goal of housing 50% in the near future. HDH provides maintenance and repair, contract meals/meal plan management, as well as retail food service, conference services and catering services to residents, students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.

Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Ability to anticipate, identify and analyze problems and recommend solutions.Demonstrated experience of financial accounting/bookkeeping principles.
Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments. Ability to audit ledgers for appropriateness of expenses and make sound recommendations for resolutions.
Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely. Skill in usage of computers, word processing, database, spreadsheet and electronic mail software. Demonstrated skill in working with computer programmers in resolving technical issues.
Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Familiarity with both manual and computerized accounting systems. Mathematical and computation abilities to complete calculations as necessary to prepare a variety of reports with a high degree of accuracy.
