Job Description



    Nursing Informatics is the specialty that integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge and wisdom in nursing practice. This position facilitates the integration of data, information, knowledge and wisdom to support patients, nurses, and other providers in their decision making. This support is accomplished through the use of information structures, information processes, and information technology.


    The Registered Nurse, Informatics is responsible for performing a variety of duties including, but not limited to, the following:

    • Serves as the liaison between administration, clinical staff, and technical staff regarding the clinical business, technical operations management processes associated with each specific clinical application.
    • Supervise resources and activities for all phases of the systems life cycle, including needs analysis, requirements gathering, design, development, selection and purchase, testing, implementation, and evaluation or new or modified systems and informatics solutions, data structures, and decision-support mechanisms to support all facets of healthcare delivery.
    • Supervise and facilitate training, installation, implementation, maintenance, and overall use of CPRS and other clinical applications.
    • Demonstrates competency in formal systems analysis techniques.
    • Serves as a catalyst for developing strategic plans, creating systems policies and procedures, and serving as a champion for complex projects and disparate system users.
    • Report and resolve clinical, business, operational, and technical issues through approved channels.
    • Assess and monitor clinical workflow and outcomes to include performing initial and ongoing skill-gap analysis of users and monitoring and reporting effectiveness of change outcomes to local leadership.
    • Ensures compliance with local and national policies, procedures, and directives.
    • Recommend local procedural and policy changes as appropriate.
    • Actively participate in the local facility informatics committee
    • Disseminate information to end users on policies and procedures relevant to clinical applications.
    • Test and verify updates, patches, and new releases to CPRS and associated clinical applications prior to activation, including clinical reminders, reminder dialogs, and other applicable sub-packages.

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00 to 4:30 or as agreed upon with the possibility of extended hours and weekends. NOTE: Candidates must be willing to work weekends, irregular work hours and extended hours. The candidate must be willing to be assigned to other related services and/or locations, if necessary.
