Wayne State University; Detroit, Michigan seeks qualified candidates for the position of Placental Biologist. The successful candidate will develop a nationally recognized research program in the area of placental biology that addresses biological questions that pertain to basic biology and/or human health using mammalian systems. Individuals that incorporate domestic animal models as well as cellular, molecular, and functional genomic approaches are encouraged to apply.
The individual chosen for this position will become part of a highly successful, fast-paced research group that focuses on clinical and basic research in perinatal medicine and related disciplines. The goal of this internationally recognized research is to develop novel diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative strategies to reduce adverse pregnancy outcome, infant mortality and handicap. The research agenda involves novel discovery technologies in functional genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and transcriptomics. The candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an energetic, well-funded research program; engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative research; teach undergraduate and graduate level courses; and advise undergraduate and graduate students.
