  • Performs delegated tasks according to department policies and procedures within the scope of an EDT II
  • Advocates for the patient and family to support patient/family rights and needs and demonstrates a customer service approach in care and interactions with others.
  • Utilizes resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities to evaluate and improve patient care.
  • Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the system hospital, program, and department. Leads and motivates others to do so through own behaviors.
  • Participates in growth and self-development activities to enhance the role.
  • Promotes cohesiveness and peer support among staff and program colleagues.
  • Demonstrates awareness of information relating to health and safety at work and perform safely at all times
  • Performs coordination functions accurately and efficiently
  • Performs clerical support and coordination
  • May be asked to Perform accurate and timely processing of physician orders
  • May facilitate the monitoring of telemetry


  • Serves as an example for new staff members and entire unit staff.
  • Integrates new employee into the work group.
  • Identifies learning needs of the new employee, plans and implements learning experiences, and assists in the performance evaluation.


  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Completion of Health Unit Coordinator Program preferred
  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician or
  • BLS certification


  • Minnesota Emergency Medical Service Regulatory Board (EMSRB) or
  • The ability to establish effective relationships with health care team members.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks.

  • Demonstrated self-directness

  • Proficient in Windows based applications, Must have customer service experience. Previous experience as a HUC preferred. Ability to prioritize and organize tasks in a fast paced environment.

  • Proficient with keyboarding and customer service skills.

  • Strong English skills in reading, writing, verbal comprehension and expression.

  • Medical terminology preferred.

Work Schedule

12 hour night shift
Every 3rd weekend
