Sanitaire is a division of Xylem, Inc. They are located approximately 10 miles north of downtown Milwaukee, in Brown Deer, WI. Sanitaire is a leading supplier of biological treatment and diffused aeration systems in the wastewater treatment market.

The Role: Sanitaire, a division on Xylem seeks to hire an Intern to join their Environmental Engineering team. This person will be responsible for assisting the biological treatment group in preparing technical and commercial documents for biological treatment systems as well as supporting other process engineering initiatives.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Helping to design ICEAS/SBR systems
  • Bioloop Oxidation Ditches, or OSCAR activated sludge systems
  • Designing diffused aeration systems
  • Collecting operating data from existing installations
  • Measuring performance at specific installation sites by gathering and analyzing process operating data
  • Special assignments as may be directed by Sanitaire management

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Must be in Junior standing in pursuit of a B.S. degree in Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic understanding of wastewater treatment
  • Microsoft Office computer skills
  • Motivated self-learner
  • Work well in a team environment

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility

Work Environment:

  • Office: Standard office equipment; work usually performed in an office setting free from any disagreeable elements.
  • Standard weekly job hours: 40 hours
