Position Summary

The Estimator Intern assists with coordinating the pricing and exchanges of various jobs based on a seasoned understanding of the products and how the project will function as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers current plans, specifications and addenda to assigned projects
  • Reviews specifications to insure compliance with acceptable manufacturers and reports non-compliance to salesmen
  • Completes detailed takeoffs including quantity by size, style and tag number for heating, ventilating and air conditioning products from blueprints and specifications
  • Prepares cost estimates utilizing current pricing programs and/or pricing catalogs
  • Communicates with manufactures for specification compliance and pricing
  • Prepares preliminary proposals for heating, ventilating and air conditioning products from takeoff
  • Assists in bidding jobs with direction of sales management
  • Abides by all LONG and OSHA safety regulations at all times
  • Drives defensively and obeys all traffic laws including LONG safe driver policy (avoids all confrontational driving situations)
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience selling and/or applying HVAC equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Complete, thorough and detailed work with accuracy and consistency
  • Excellent written, visual document formatting, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems
  • Proficiency in basic math and elementary algebra
  • Computer literacy

Physical Requirements

  • Routine sitting, lifting, bending, and kneeling
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor
